Pterodactyl Spills Out today

Pterodactyl’s new album Spills Out is out today on Brah Records!  It’s an ambitious follow-up to Arnold’s Park and Worldwild, bringing their songwriting front and center and using their noise and texture to flesh the songs out to epic proportions.  The album is streaming in full at Spin Magazine: http://www.spin.com/articles/first-spin-tales-behind-pterodactyls-spills-out

Arnold’s Park by Pterodactyl – Out Nov 1

Arnold’s Park – one of two European-only vinyl-only 2010 EPs by Pterodactyl – will be reissued by SOUNGS on November 1st.  All of the songs have been freshly remastered, and an outtake from the same time period (“For Nothing”) is included as a bonus track.  The album will be available for digital download and as a limited-edition cassette (with silk-screened artwork and a high-quality download code) from this site and on the band’s upcoming North American tour.

Arnold’s Park was originally released by Deleted Art in Sweden.  The EP explores the more psychedelic aspects of Pterodactyl’s sound, building expansive songs out of intimate soundscapes, or maybe it’s the other way around.  In many ways, Arnold’s Park is the perfect predecesor to the groups upcoming album Spills Out (out 11/15 on Jagjaguwar) – it also features artwork from Otecki as well as the original version of “Allergy Shots” (which appears in a remixed form on the new album).

Pterodactyl tape coming soon

The mighty Pterodactyl will be re-releasing their European/vinyl-only EP Arnold’s Park on SOUNGS later this year.  Arnold’s Park (originally released on Deleted Art in 2010) finds the band in their most experimental mindset, playing around with loops and drones to build fractured songs and landscapes.  It’s a huge favorite of ours at SOUNGS, and we’re psyched to see it given an alternate state-side release.  The cassette and digital release will feature silk-screened packaging, stay tuned for more details!!

Daniel Francis Doyle on comp

Daniel Francis Doyle and SOUNGS’ own Jonny Two Eyes just recorded a new song for the upcoming compilation on SOUNGS.  Scheduled for release this fall, the compilation will also feature new & unreleased material from Pterodactyl, Mittens on Strings, Unmanned Ship, El is the Sound of Joy, and many more.  Stay tuned for more details, chiefs.
